450 SEL 6.9

In the hallowed halls of the Brown, the 6.9 stands tall.

Completely innocuous looking (or as innocuous as 5335mm and near enough to two tonnes can be) yet faster than just about anything you care to name from the same era, sports cars included. Featuring a stupidly large and complicated V8 and hydropneumatic suspension directly related to that used by Citroen, the 6.9 was good enough to pretend to be a Ferrari in C’était un rendez-vous for Claude Lelouch and to chase down a Peugeot 605 and Citroen XM for John Frankenheimer in Ronin.
